HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! (belated!)

Mrs. Willie brought her little Valentines cupcakes for a party during Sunday School.  The boys had a great time smearing the icing on their faces.  Brady's face was stained for a few days!!  All in the name of love!

TOE JAM!

Whose toe is this?

Whose size 13 is too big for the boots at the ER?

Who gets chuckle from the nurses and doctors because they cannot tell which toe is broken because all of them are so crooked?

It is my little brother Jimmy!  A 1500 lb pallet of crushed cardboard ran over his toe!

Goodbye, Sweet Ditto

Ed's best friend, confidant, and loyal companion died yesterday.  Ditto was the sweetest dog you have ever seen.  When I had my hysterectomy, she knew that I was sick and would not leave my side.  All she wanted from you was a rub on the head.  In the past year, she had really gone down hill with major hip problems.  She could not get up or down by herself sometimes.  When we were visiting last Friday, she had to have help getting a drink of water.  Mom said that you could hear her labored breathing at night.  I am sure that the other two dogs drove her crazy, but she just ignored them.

God blesses us with our pets and I am thankful that Ditto was given to Ed.  We will miss you!

Tired - but trying to be thankful

I am tired of winter.  Already.  Winter started less than a month ago and I am ready for spring.  I am tired of fussing about the cold (and yes we do have winters like we used to - we are living it now).  I am tired of power outages.  I am tired of wearing layers of clothing.

I am trying to be thankful for all things winter.  The Bible says there is a season for everything.  Here are a few things to be thankful for:

1)   frigid temperatures kill germs.  Maybe it will kill strep, swine flu and other mean infections
2)   winter clothing.  It covers your fat.  No one can tell that you have arm and back fat when you are   dressed in layers
3)  My Nissan Pathfinder.  Everytime I put it in 4wd to get out of the driveway I thank God for blessing me with that vehicle.
4)  My garage.  When I go from the den to the garage and buckle Brady in, I am thankful that I do not have go out and start the car to warm it up.  We do not have to get cold or wet.
5)  flannel sheets.  It is nice to snuggle up under the warm sheets to go to sleep.
6) the new Wii.  I can play tennis inside - and I LOVE IT.
7)  Lotion.  My skin is so dry from the cold temps and the heat inside that I need a lot of lotion
8)  God's promise that he would not leave us or forsake us.  When the power is out and it is cold outside, I remember what the Bible tells us:  the birds do not worry about their homes or their next meal - why should we?  We are more important to God than they are.

I guess after counting my blessing - naming them one by one - I see that winter is not all that bad.  Plus, it is only a month until the Daytona 500!!

Merry Christmas - Happy Birthday Jesus!

Brady (as well as Charlie and I) have had a very good Christmas.  I have repeatedly asked Brady what is important about today and he correctly answers "Jesus' Birthday" or not so correctly "God's Birthday", but he is on the right track...but he may understand the Trinity better than I do - Father, Son and Holy Ghost!

The one bummer was that the Wii that I bought the guys would not work.  I kept getting a disc error, which I finally found help for.  The help was to send it to be repaired.  I guess I will be going to Best Buy tomorrow.

Brady got a ton of stuff (of course) between Nana's house on Christmas Eve, Santa's visit at home, April's house and Nay's house.  We are very blessed!

Abbie got a Princess dress up trunk, which Brady enjoyed too!

Gifts from Santa!
